Does It Count?

The other day after giving JT a bath, we had him on our bed for a few minutes of LNTT (Late Nite Tummy Time).  He was a bit fussy, but seemed to figure out how to flip himself over!  So what did I do?  I did what any other capture-every-moment-of-my-childs-life parent would do.  Grabbed the camera and coaxed him to do it again.  Ok, so I know that our mattress has a lot more "give" to it than the floor, but still, I was so proud!

Liz's Impromptu Birthday Dinner

My sister, Liz, had a birthday earlier this month, and at the last minute, my parents came downtown to pick up her kids and bring them to our house for dinner and dessert.  The best part (aside from being with family) was dessert time!

Jack T at One Month

One short month ago, we were in the hospital getting ready to welcome him into our arms and hearts. I am having a hard time believing that one month has passed already since Jack T entered our lives.  These weeks have gone by faster than I would like and I am doing all I can to cherish each new day with our baby boy because I know it is only going to continue to pass so very quickly.

Just this past Thursday at his 4 week pediatrician check-up, he weighed in at 11 lbs. 2.4 oz, which puts him in the 93rd percentile, and measured 23 inches in length, which puts him in the 84th percentile.  And he may only be a month old, but he has already celebrated a few milestones since we first met.  His neck is very strong and he moves and lifts his head around quite a bit already, which impressed the doctor since our one week visit.  Although we had a rough start getting him to nurse in the hospital, things quickly got smoothed out and he is a healthy eater, as you can tell by his weight.  At the two week point we were given the OK from the doctor to let him nurse on demand overnight while still waking him during the day for regular feedings.  After a couple nights, he transitioned into sleeping for about a 5-6 hour stretch most nights, for which we were so very grateful.  He has tried out his bouncy/vibrating chair, his swing, and his crib.  He took his first (and second) bottles from Jack with no problem at all, which made me both excited and heartbroken all at the same time.  Despite the fact that the doctor said all babies hate it, he takes his liquid vitamin like a champ each time and never spits it out.  He spent his first full night out of our room and in the crib, which was tough for me to handle as well, but that same night, he also slept for 8 hours straight.  He's experienced his first bath (which he completely hated as he cried and screamed the whole time).  He's met and been held by so many of our family and friends and he seems so agreeable and laid back with everyone.  He experienced his first live music concert when we went with my family to hear my aunt and uncle's band, West End Jazz Band, play at Hackney's.  We've taken a zillion pictures of him, cuddled with him while he's slept, played him all kinds of music and showered him countless kisses.  He has brought more love and happiness into our lives than I even thought possible.

Although I am sad to know that the first month with him has already passed, we have those zillion pictures that I can look back on and enjoy and we have so many more wonderful memories and milestones to celebrate ahead.  Happy One Month Birthday, Jack T!

January & February 2010 Birthday Celebrations

A couple weeks ago, my side of family got together to celebrate birthdays for both my sisters and my dad.  We had lunch first before going to my sister's house for dessert and play time with all the kids...all six kids....all four years old and younger.  It was a pretty crazy time, but I can't imagine what it's going to be like in just a couple years when all of them are mobile.  As you can see, we sure had fun!
